JOAN & THE GIANTS
Melbourne-based alt pop-rock band Joan & The Giants (originally from Western Australia) are fast becoming one of Australia’s most exciting breakthrough acts heading into 2026. After a huge 2024 supporting global superstars P!NK and Tones and I at Optus Stadium, the four-piece carried serious momentum into 2025 — touring nationally with The Fray for the 20th anniversary of 'How to Save a Life' and making their international debut at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, securing international representation with ITB in London.
Their breakout single 'Born in the Wrong Time' earned them Triple J Unearthed Feature Artist, topped the Metro AMRAP charts, and won Happy Mag’s nationwide 'Needle in the Hay' competition, as well as Best Rock Song at the 2024 WA Song of the Year Awards and an APRA Music Awards nomination. Follow-up releases have continued to build momentum, with editorial Spotify support and national media coverage — including praise from Rolling Stone AU, who declared the band “a force to be reckoned with.”
On stage, Joan & The Giants are a commanding presence. They’ve shared bills with international heavyweights including Belinda Carlisle, Everything Everything, The Vaccines, Lake Street Drive and Weyes Blood, alongside Australian favourites such as Eskimo Joe, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, Sly Withers, Pacific Avenue and Coterie.
Formed in 2019 by queer front-woman Grace Newton-Wordsworth — who grew up on an organic farm in regional Western Australia before relocating to Melbourne — the band with members Riley Sutton, Chris Mackenzie and Liam Olsen channels raw vulnerability, soaring hooks, and anthemic alt-rock energy into every performance. With major festival showcases, national tours, international momentum, and a rapidly expanding global audience, Joan & The Giants aren’t just rising — they’re arriving.
'The Five Stages of Grief' EP release

"For a long time I felt like a butterfly trapped in a cocoon, not being able to see the light —but that is changing and I’m starting to spread my wings and find peace, joy and freedom. This EP is an embodiment of grief, love and survival — a painful chapter transformed into music and now healing."
